Angelene’s extensive experience in the fashion system spans across academia, curation, journalism, marketing, and public relations. These, together with her lifelong pursuit of dance, have equipped her with a unique skill set that allows her to approach fashion, dance, and their intersections, in a creative, progressive, and analytical way. An enthusiasm for fashion theory has led her to her key research interests - issues of embodiment, power relations and discourses of knowledge, and responsible practices in the fashion system. Her Master’s thesis, “The Metamodernist Body: Reconsidering Time, Space and Free Will through 21st Century Fashion-Dance Performance,” is an interdisciplinary dialogue between fashion studies, dance studies, and philosophy, to interrogate the nature of embodiment and social relations in metamodernism as they manifest in fashion performance and imagery. She is currently an independent dance artiste and hopes to further her academic career in fashion.
